IKT 217 MICROECONOMIC THEORY I

MIDTERM

Questions:

1.      1. Show regions of elasticities on a linear demand curve (5p). Discuss the factors that affecting the demand elasticity (10p). Explain with examples income elasticity and cross elasticity of demand (10p)

2.      2. Explain the requirements to have an optimal choice (10p). Under the conditions of the good being inferior and income falling, obtain the income consumption curve, the Engel curve, and derive the demand curve for inferior good X (30p).

3.      3. Under the assumption that there are only two goods (x and y) in the market and both goods are complementary, obtain the price consumption curve when the price of the other good (y) increases and derive the demand curve for good x (35p).
