Proje Özeti

Although Türkiye is a country rich in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs), there is not enough utilization. In addition to the lack of information on MAPs, the production of MAPs with high quality and yield and their commercialization into highvalue- added products are not at a sufficient level. MAP agriculture, which requires different practices than general agricultural practices, is also seriously affected by climate change. As a reflection of the general situation in Türkiye, a similar situation is also experienced in Eskişehir. It is primarily aimed at raising awareness about MAPs, encouraging innovative and sustainable agricultural practices for high-quality and efficient MAP production, developing adaptation strategies to reduce the negative impacts of climate change on MAP agriculture, making products of high quality and commercial value, disseminating agricultural practices that are resistant to the effects of climate change and to protect local varieties. Species to be studied in a total area of 25 decares within the scope of the project planned to be realized for 24 months: Crocus sativus, Dorystaechas hastata, Sideritis pisidica, Celtis tournefortii, Amygdalus communis, Lavandula angustifolia, Helichryssum italicum, Sophora japonica, Matricaria
chammomila, Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum, Salvia officinalis and Nigella sativa, Onobrychis sp. MAPs Adaptation to Climate Change and Dissemination of Sustainability Studies will be carried out. Within the scope of the project, Anadolu University (Medicinal Plant, Drug and Scientific Research and Application Center-AUBIBAM), the main applicant, will be involved in the cultivation of Saffron (Crocus sativus) in greenhouse environment with soilless agriculture and obtaining MAPs essential oil and hydrosols; Eskişehir Osmangazi University (Faculty of Agriculture), one of the co-applicants, will take part in all agricultural activities and beekeeping activities from sowing and planting to harvesting of Lavandula angustifolia, Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum, Salvia officinalis, Onobrychis sp., Matricaria chammomila and Nigella sativa species in the field. Research Institute for Forest, Soil and Ecology will be involved in all agricultural activities from planting to harvesting of Dorystaechas hastata, Sideritis pisidica, Celtis tournefortii, Amygdalus communis and Sophora japonica species. In addition to the production of Crocus sativus and Helichryssum italicum in the fields belonging to Transitional Zone Agricultural Research Institute, Crocus sativus cultivation studies will be carried out with the soil farming method by making arrangements both in the field and in the existing greenhouses. Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality - EMM (Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste) will provide
trainings on Climate Change and MAPs through an Awareness Workshop for disabled people and children. Limited Liability Women's Initiative Production and Business Cooperative of Mihalıççık District, as an affiliated entity, will take part in pre- and post-harvest processes in agricultural works. Preliminary studies on the adaptation of endemic species to Eskişehir have already been carried out and seedlings and seeds of these species are available for use by the project applicants. Soilless agriculture studies will be carried out in the greenhouse to be established in the project area. The drying and working area required for postharvesting will be built where the project activities will be carried out. A social use area will also be created for
production and demonstration activities. The electricity needed in the area will be met by the solar energy system to be installed. All irrigation activities in agricultural areas will be carried out with subsurface drip irrigation methods to reduce water use.
