Project Abstract

Career adaptability means having the resources that will enable an individual to cope with the difficult situations he/she will encounter in career transitions. Career adaptability is a psychosocial structure that changes employees' social life compatibility at a certain level and shows the individual resources they need to cope with the traumas and transitions they encounter or may encounter in the context of their roles in working life. Career adaptability makes employees prepared for the uncertainties of changing environmental-business conditions and unpredictable changes and makes it easier for them to carry out this process correctly. Since the basic elements of private or public sector activities are offices, the subject has been deemed worthy of research with the prediction that the development of office managers/assistants, who have an important role in the offices, through in-service training practices will contribute to their career adaptation. The main question of the research is "Is it possible to improve the career adaptability and office technology competencies of office managers and assistants through in-service training?" It was determined as . The population of the research, which was designed as a mixed one due to the main research question and problem situation, consists of Anadolu University office managers/assistant staff, and the sample consists of domestic/international office managers/assistants of Anadolu University Open Education System. In the quantitative dimension of the research, the data were collected electronically in two scale forms. After analyzing the responses, the participants were given distance in-service training. Then, the scale forms (pre-test) applied to the participants before the in-service training were re-applied (post-test) after the in-service training and the answers given by the participants before and after the in-service training were compared. The qualitative dimension of the research was designed as a case study. The data were collected from the participants electronically and with semi-structured questions. The qualitative research helped to understand the quantitative research findings in depth and finally, the data were evaluated holistically.
