Özet:
The aim of this study is to assess the educational needs of student teachers about
women‘s rights. Descriptive approach is taken to the account as the main approach for
assessing the educational needs in this concurrent mixed model study. Data collection
and analysis methods include document analysis of the course syllabuses and the
teacher education programs of the education faculty, a Likert type questionnaire, and
semi-structured interviews with the student teachers, and the teaching staffs. As a result
of the study, although both student teachers and teaching staffs have enough awareness
about the importance of women‘s rights as human rights, and especially agree with the
legal rights, there are a considerable number of prospective teachers who are unaware of
specialized and critical concerns. Both participating groups are in favor of women‘s
rights education for the prospective teachers and the society. Moreover, the results of
the document analysis show the gap of women‘s rights in the curricula of teacher
education at Anadolu University. According to the assessment of the all of the findings
of the study, it is concluded that there is a need for women‘s rights education in Faculty
of Education at Anadolu University.
