We are a research group (AnaBlue at Anadolu University, Türkiye ) focusing on sustainability, circular economy, bioeconomics, and blue economy.

Anadolu University is a distinguished public university located in Türkiye, well-known for its innovative educational methodologies and extensive open and distance education programs. Founded in 1958, Anadolu University has evolved from an academy into one of the largest and most innovative universities globally, classified as a Mega University due to its vast student population and comprehensive educational offerings. The university is situated in the center of Eskişehir, a city celebrated for its contributions to science, culture, and youth, enhancing the educational experience for its students.

Our campus hosts 10 faculties, 1 State Conservatory, 3 schools, 3 vocational schools, 2 institutes (Graduate Education and Research Institute for the Disabled) and 25 research centers, including 1 that provides open and distance education. In the 2024-2025 academic year, our university, with approximately 4,800 staff, offers educational opportunities to over 1 million students, including open and distance education, and has opened its doors to around 10,000 foreign students from around the world. Today, nearly half of the students enrolled in universities in Turkey are students of Anadolu University. Some of these students are working individuals who cannot attend regular education due to their circumstances, as well as students with physical, hearing, and visual disabilities, and those continuing to their second university. The Open Education System provides equal opportunities for citizens in this regard. Our university collaborates with 377 international organizations from 71 countries while carrying out these activities.

At Anadolu University, the teaching processes are supported by the latest technologies. Students register online at the beginning of each term. Additionally, they can track their assignments, participation, and grades through the online student information system. Our university has computer laboratories in all teaching units. In these laboratories, licensed online software services are provided to facilitate students' and staff's lessons and research. All students have free access to internet facilities. The Anadolu University Library and Documentation Center provides 24/7 service to both students and all units with its modern facilities and rich archive. The library, occupying an area of 12,330 m², includes individual study rooms and group study halls. The library has a total seating capacity of 1,165. The number of books currently available exceeds 290,000, with approximately 10,000 new books added each year. In addition to printed resources, the library has a rich e-collection, providing access to 163,808 e-books, 54,332 e-journals, and 67 databases. On average, 1.2 million people visit our library each year, and about 1.5 million people visit the library's website annually.Our university has small-scale seminar and conference rooms in every faculty and school building, as well as 6 large-scale halls where educational, cultural, and social activities are held. The Student Center, which includes rooms for 64 student clubs, performance and seminar halls, a scientific research center, an international student center, a folklore center, and a research-development center, provides services. Our university has 5 hotels in Istanbul, Ankara, and Eskişehir that serve our students and staff.

As of the end of 2024, the Anadolu University Open Education System has become one of the largest institutions providing education with over 4,142,101 graduates of associate and undergraduate programs and approximately 984,764 active students. The Open Education Faculty offers a total of 21 undergraduate and 32 associate degree programs, providing education services through a contemporary Open Education System, not only to domestic citizens but also to Turkish citizens living abroad and citizens of other countries. Our exams are held at a total of 112 exam centers within the country. In our International Programs, exam centers are located in Azerbaijan (Baku), Germany (Berlin, Essen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart), Austria (Linz, Vienna), Belgium (Brussels), France (Lyon, Paris, Strasbourg), the Netherlands (The Hague), England (London), Switzerland (Bern), Denmark (Copenhagen), Albania (Tirana), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo), Kosovo (Prizren, Pristina), North Macedonia (Gostivar, Skopje), Serbia (Novi Pazar), Montenegro (Podgorica), Bulgaria (Sofia), Moldova (Comrat), Romania (Bucharest), the United States (San Francisco, Houston, New York, Maryland), Canada (Toronto), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina), Egypt (Cairo), Qatar (Doha), the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Kazakhstan (Almaty, Astana), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Samarkand, Turkestan), Iraq (Baghdad), Iran (Tehran, Tabriz), Jordan (Amman), Uganda (Kampala), and Senegal (Dakar).

In the Open Education System, students receive digital textbooks through the Anadolum eCampus (ekampus.anadolu.edu.tr) system. Additionally, PDF textbooks are published with audio recordings. Various types of learning materials, such as videos and live lessons, are also prepared and made available through the eCampus platform. In 2024, a total of 28,648 learning materials were produced or updated based on units. The Anadolu University Massive Open Course Platform (AKADEMA), offered by the Anadolu University Open Education System, provides free and unconditional educational opportunities for anyone with internet access.The Open Education Student Support System (AOSDESTEK) is a support system aimed at answering all questions that students, prospective students, and graduates have about the Open Education System. The system includes approximately 600 current questions and answers categorized into 10 main categories and 64 subcategories. The system can be accessed via mobile and desktop devices, where over 860,000 questions have been answered. The Anadolu University Open Education AI-Powered Virtual Assistant (Chatbot) has also been operating through the web and Anadolu Mobile since its beta version was launched in 2022.

Since 2016, the Open Education System has had corporate social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter) since 2020, and LinkedIn since 2023. By the end of 2024, we reached 274,700 followers on Facebook, 262,780 on Instagram, 57,544 on X (Twitter), and 19,739 on LinkedIn. The Corporate Social Media Accounts for International Programs also reached 1,469 followers on Facebook, 3,255 on Instagram, and 608 on X (Twitter).
