Doç. Dr. BELGİN SEVER

Dr. Sever graduated as valedictorian from Anadolu University’s Faculty of Pharmacy in 2013. She completed her MSc and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the same institution in 2015 and 2019, respectively. During her doctoral studies, she was awarded the TÜBİTAK 2211-A National Scholarship by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.

Following the completion of her PhD, she was selected for the Takeda Science Foundation International Fellowship Programme as a postdoctoral researcher. Between November 2020 and May 2021, she conducted research on anti-HIV drug development at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Kumamoto University, in the Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Science Farm Joint Research Laboratory in Japan.

Subsequently, she received the TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and continued her research on anticancer drug development in the same laboratory from June 2022 to June 2023.

Most recently, she carried out research on the development of novel compounds targeting ALS as a Postdoctoral Researcher supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at Kumamoto University from October 2023 to August 2025.

In recognition of her scientific achievements, Dr. Sever was named a “Young Woman Researcher” at the 7th Women Awards – Venus International Women Awards (VIWA) 2022, based on the VIWA Expert Committee Report and Apex Committee recommendations. In the same year, she also received an award from the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association – Academy of Pharmacy for her contributions to pharmaceutical sciences.

Dr. Sever actively contributes to the scientific community as a member of the editorial boards of several journals, including Open Chemistry, PLOS ONE, Heliyon – Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, Frontiers in Chemistry, Frontiers in Chemical Biology, Oncology Research, Discover Oncology, and Scientific Reports. She also serves as a Topic Editor for Pharmaceuticals, Molecules, and Life.
