Doç. Dr. BELGİN SEVER

Dr. Belgin Sever is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Anadolu University. Her research primarily focuses on the development of drug candidates targeting cancer, microbial infections, diabetes, HIV, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), with a particular emphasis on medicinal chemistry and computational chemistry.

She has published numerous high-quality articles in prestigious, peer-reviewed international journals indexed by the Science Citation Index (SCI) and SCI-Expanded.

Dr. Sever graduated as valedictorian from Anadolu University, Faculty of Pharmacy in 2013. She earned her MSc and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same institution in 2015 and 2019, respectively. During her doctoral studies, she was awarded the 2211-A National Scholarship by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).

Following her PhD, she was accepted into the Takeda Science Foundation International Fellowship Programme as a postdoctoral researcher. From November 2020 to May 2021, she worked on anti-HIV drug development at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Kumamoto University, in the Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Science Farm Joint Research Laboratory, Japan.

Later, she received the TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to continue her research on anticancer drug development at the same laboratory from June 2022 to June 2023.

Finally, she completed her research on the development of new compounds effective against ALS, working as a Postdoctoral Researcher under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at Kumamoto University from October 2023 to August 2025.

In recognition of her achievements, Dr. Sever was selected as a "Young Woman Researcher" in the 7th Women Awards – Venus International Women Awards (VIWA) 2022, based on the VIWA Expert Committee Report and Apex Committee Recommendations. She also received an award from the Turkish Pharmacists' Association – Academy of Pharmacy in 2022 for her contributions to pharmaceutical sciences.

Dr. Sever actively contributes to the scientific community as a member of editorial boards for journals such as Open Chemistry, PLOS ONE, Heliyon – Pharmaceutical Science, Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, Frontiers in Chemistry, Frontiers in Chemical Biology, Oncology Research, Discover Oncology, and Scientific Reports. She also serves as a topic editor for Pharmaceuticals, Molecules, and Life.
