Res. Asst. ÖZGE TAN

Özge Tan was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1993. After graduating with first-class honors from the Ceramics Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Anadolu University in 2016, she began her Master’s degree at the same university the same year. She completed her Master’s degree in 2019 with her thesis and accompanying exhibition titled ‘‘Ceramics as a Contemporary Material in the Art of Embroidery’’. In 2019, she began her Proficiency in Art studies at the same university, which she completed in 2025 with her thesis ‘‘The Representation of Mythological Women in Contemporary Ceramic Art and Personal Artworks’’ and her solo exhibition ‘‘The Tale of Tales’’. Two of her articles, ‘‘Reflections of the Damage of Plastic Waste to Nature in Art and Ceramic Applications’’ and ‘‘Illustrative Expression in Contemporary Ceramic Art’’ have been published in international peer-reviewed journals.

The artist has held three solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions and contemporary art fairs both in Turkey and abroad. Her works are included in private and public collections. Tan has received four awards, two international and two national. In 2023, she was invited as an artist-in-residence to the Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center in Denmark, where she conducted research and created artworks for three months.
Between 2018 and 2020, she worked as a Research Assistant at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Ceramics and Glass Design. Since 2020, she has been serving as a Research Assistant at Anadolu University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics.

Özge Tan focuses on themes drawn from nature, history, mythology, femininity, the essence of life, and personal stories. She reconstructs these themes in a fairytale-like universe through a surreal and illustrative approach. She continues her practice with passion, producing ceramic and porcelain sculptures, wall pieces, wearable art, and more.
