Abstract

Water-distilled essential oil of Cinnamomum tamala (Ham.) Nees & Eberm. (Lauraceae) leaves was analysed by GC-MS. Sixty-three compounds, representing 94.3% of the oil, were identified. β-Caryophyllene (25.3%), linalool (13.4%) and caryophyllene oxide (10.3%) were the main constituents of the oil obtained in 0.03% yield.
