The purpose of this study is to determine the fine arts education teacher candidates’
perception about concept of teacher through metaphors. This qualitative study
applied phenomenology as research method. The research was carried out by
participating of 40 teacher candidates at Anadolu University, Faculty of Education,
and Department of Fine Arts Education through the Research Methodologies lesson
directed by the researcher, in 2014-2015 fall semester. The research data were
collected by the social network sharing of the participants and by an open-ended
questionnaire. Thematic analysis technique which is a qualitative research method
were used to analyze the data. Teacher candidates explained the concept of teacher
with much more categorized metaphors such as bicycle snowflake, galaxy, snatch,
basketball coaching, courage, rainbow, freedom.
