Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technologies and innovative educational practices around the world has significantly changed the way of learning and teaching in the first quarter of the 21st century. Miscellaneous formal and distance education institutions are trying to keep up with these changes and adapt the requirements of the digital age to their education programs. Whether online or face-toface, the preparation of learning materials rooted in a strong curriculum, predisposed to the need for unassailable technologies, has been a prerequisite of this era. When this context is evaluated at the micro-level, it is possible to discuss methods specific to all disciplines. In foreign language teaching (FLT), listening, speaking, writing, and reading skills are considered the core elements and should be meticulously covered in the targeted language learning process. Interaction, production, and feedback are vital issues in language learning. In this qualitative study, the researcher conducted semistructured interviews with field experts to elucidate the core elements of preparing learning materials in distance foreign languages (DFLT). The results showed that enhanced interaction with Web 2.0, collaborative learning environments, and production-based materials and activities are key elements in the preparation of DFLT materials.
