Özet

There have been a number of studies to investigate possible use of limonite and limonite-based pigments in different ceramic glaze systems. In these researches it was reported that Eskisehir Mihaliccik region's limonite of Turkey could easily be used as colouring agent in relevant glazes. Beside sorting out the usage capability of limonite, its effect on final colour and microstructure of satin and opaque wall tile glazes was searched in this study employing colorimeter, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX) analysis techniques. Depending on the starting oxide composition of glaze, limonite changes final colour, concentration of crystal phases and their overall distribution.
