Özet

In this study, private amateur educational institutions providing classical music instrument training in Eskişehir were examined. Music education is provided in three main fields: general, vocational and amateur. Amateur music education is an important branch of music education that is offered in private courses and institutions to people who have a passion and interest in music. It offers many emotional and cognitive benefits to these individuals. Scientifically, it is determined and recommended that instrument training received at an early age has many benefits. Such institutions play a curicial role in supporting musical and personal development.The study group of the research consists of 4 courses and 4 private schools approved by the Ministry of National Education that provide classical music instrument training in Eskişehir. The aim was to analyse this training in terms of quality, continuity, purpose, interest, achievements, needs and problems by interviewing the managers and trainers in these institutions. Additionally, students’ perspectives, expectations, and perceived achievements regarding instrument training were assessed through questionnaires.Since it is aimed to examine the private courses and private schools providing private classical music instrument training in Eskişehir in a multidimensional way, the research was carried out with a qualitative research method and designed as a case study and the Nvivo 14 qualitative data analysis programme was used with inductive analysis in all data. With this study, which will contribute to other researches on amateur music training, it is aimed to determine the location of Eskişehir, to spread and develop it by bringing problems and solution suggestions. The research concluded that amateur classical music instrument training in Eskişehir is at a good level in terms of quality, prevalence, and demand, but studies can be carried out on issues such as curriculum, solfege education, work programme, choice of instruments, continuity of education, and financial and moral support for talented students.
