Abstract

Water is an essential and irreplaceable resource for all living beings. As one of nature’s most vital assets, it must be remembered that water is also a finite resource. With the rapid growth of the global population, the consumption and management of water have become increasingly critical. Ensuring the sustainable use of water now requires more than just awareness—it must become a way of life. Unconscious or careless water consumption not only threatens access to clean water but also increases the risk of drought. Furthermore, the effective and responsible management of water resources plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and combating global warming. In this context, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the water sector offers promising solutions. AI technologies can enhance the efficiency of water management systems by predicting demand, detecting leaks, optimizing irrigation, and monitoring water quality in real-time. These innovations are directly aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on clean water, climate action, and sustainable cities. This chapter explores how AI applications in the water sector can help address global water challenges and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.
