Instrument performance is a set of physical, mental, and spiritual actions. Rehearsals are held so that the musician can perform at his best on stage. Although musicians have a work program on how to plan their physical work and how to interpret the piece, very few of them carry out a planned-systematic work to prepare mentally and spiritually for the performance. The purpose of this research is to prepare a mental work plan to improve stage performance. The research focuses on how the mental work plan should be structured. In order to find an answer to this question, studies conducted in the field of music were examined with the content analysis method, and performance-based needs appropriate to the field were determined. It was seen that various mental methods were suggested to improve instrument performance, but no comprehensive or structured work plan was found. Based on the common characteristics of sports training and instrument performance, studies conducted on psychological skill training used in the field of sports were examined in line with the purpose of the research. Mental practices are frequently used in the field of sports, and with planned studies conducted together with sports psychologists, negative emotional and mental factors are eliminated, and athletes' performances are increased. Mental methods used in sports training were evaluated in the context of the gains they provide, and methods that can contribute to instrument performance and help create a comprehensive work plan were emphasized. Accordingly, techniques such as focus studies, breathing exercises, mental imagery, and meditation have been seen to come to the fore, and it is noteworthy that these techniques can be used for more than one goal. In the study, a mental study suggestion was presented for artists to apply in addition to their physical studies before stage performance, and the comprehensiveness of the mental study suggestion was discussed in the conclusion section.
