All over the world, air passengers would like to determine their destination, prefer an airline company among the many in the world, buy their tickets without any difficulty and make any changes when necessary. Then they expect the whole service to be right, reliable and fast when the boarding time comes. But the process of travelling by plane is complicated both for passengers and companies. In air transport industry where there is intensive competition, companies try to use every kind of new technology give them advantages. Developing information technologies (IT) and information systems (IS) have been used to make this process faster, more appropriate and more reliable. The aim of this study is to introduce the new IT and IS applications in airlines and to determine the reflections of these new technologies to Turkish airline companies. A survey was conducted to see what extent IT and IS applications are used by these companies. According to survey results, it is seen that the new information technologies are not used by Turkish airline companies at the expected level. Incomplete development of air transport industry in Turkey and lack of coordination among the airlines are determined as the main reasons of this situation.
