Water-distilled essential oils from aerial parts, leaves, flowers and stems with branches ofNepeta caesarea, an endemic species, were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-five compounds constituting 95.1–98.1% of the total components detected were identified. 4aα, 7α, 7aα-Nepetalactone (91.20–95.34%) was found to be the major component in the oils. © 1994 Allured Publishing Corp.
