Abstract

© 2019, Badebio Biotechnololgy Ltd. All rights reserved. The objective of this study was to evaluate the antifungal activity of Salvia pachystachya Trautv. (Lamiaceae) essential oil against plant pathogens that cause anthracnose, Colletotrichum acutatum J. H. Simmonds, C. fragariae A.N. Brooks and C. gloeosporioides (Penz.) Penz. & Sacc., and to determine its chemical composition. The essential oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and major components were identified as α-pinene (18.9%), (Z)-β-ocimene (11.8%) and 1,8-cineole (8.0%). The oil showed weak antifungal activity against three Colletotrichum species using direct-bioautography assay.
