In the current paper, the gas flow in straight through labyrinth seals is investigated using a two-control volume model. The continuity and the circumferential momentum equations are reobtained using the above model and three different friction functions. The effects of different friction factor models on the rotordynamic coefficients are shown. Thus, this is a comparative study for investigation of the effects of the shear stress forces to the rotordynamic coefficients. Subsequently, rotordynamic coefficients in straight through labyrinth seals are calculated. Results so obtained are then compared with earlier results.
