Abstract

Water-distilled essential oils from two collections of Thymus praecox subsp. skorpilii var. laniger, endemic in Turkey, and one collection each of var. skorpilii and subsp. grossheimii var. grossheimii were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Thymol was the major constituent in subsp. skorpilii var. langier (7.75% and 41.38%) and subsp. grossheimii var. grossheimii (26.64%) while subsp. skorpilii var. skorpilii contained geraniol (24.21%), α-terpinyl acetate (22.67%) and geranyl acetate (9.31%) as major constituents in the oil. © 1996, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
