In the present study, some hydrazone derivatives were synthesized via the reaction of 6-hydrazino-9-(β-D-ribofuranosyl)-9H-purine with various benzaldehydes. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques such as 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and ES-MS and elemental analyses. Anti-proliferative activity tests were performed on human lung (A549) and breast (MCF-7) cancer cell lines using MTT assay. Some derivatives were found to be effective against A549 and MCF-7 cell lines among these compounds. They exhibited time and dose dependent anti-proliferative activity against A549 and MCF-7 cancer cell lines.
