This study, which is derived from the output of the research data of the study, aims to revealing
the students' opinions on the process of how to get an interrogative, critical, dynamic perspective through
unusual status messages in the social media-focused design process. This study was completed by the
Anadolu University Social and Humanities Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee with the
permission dated 03.11.2020 and numbered 60406. This study, designed with design-based research, was
carried out within the scope of Graphic Design Required Program Courses of the Department of Fine Arts
Education of the Faculty of Education of Anadolu University in the fall and spring semester of the fall and
spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The study data was collected during the spring period
during the course and exam process of 16 weeks. The participants of the study are senior students of the
department of fine arts education who have taken Graphic Design VI courses, the lecturer, and the researcher.
In the study, participant observation, focus group interviews, semi-structured interviews, student products,
researcher and student diaries, video and audio recordings of lectures were used as qualitative data collection
tools. The data of the study were analyzed by multiple and different analysis methods in the form of thematic
analysis, descriptive analysis, product-based analysis due to the long-lasting and in-depth nature of the
design-based research and has benefited from the program of NVivo Pro 12. The findings obtained in the
research were discussed in the literature and suggestions were made.
