Özet

This research aims to explore the meaning of 'texture, as one of the basic design principles and elements, and the texture types. It also aims to investigate the paintings of some artists' using natural - artificial textures, and to explain touch sensation. Texture-surface is tried to be explained on the basis of the definition of "sensation" of Worringer and Deleuze, emphasizing the relation of unit-whole by using the data obtained after the literature search. The natural-artificial, hard-soft surfaces and the general emotional effects created by the touch on the human are processed. In order to better understand the real texture, the work technique of Anselm Kiefer is examined. As for the artificial texture, the hyper-realist artist Ralph Goings and trompe l'oeil paintings, mosaics or digital textures are examined.
