Abstract

Reuse of hardened concrete rubbles caused by the demolition of concrete structures has recently become possible in construction industry. The utilisation of these materials in concrete production may provide two main benefits; reduction of costs and reduction in environmental pollution. In this study, the properties of the recycled aggregate obtained from a demolished structure were extensively determined according to related standards and series of concrete samples were produced both by natural and recycled aggregate. Finally, the effects of recycled aggregate on the physical and mechanical properties of fresh and hardened concrete were analysed and the possible use of concrete rubbles as aggregate was investigated.
