Özet

The purpose of this study was to develop and examine reliability and validity of the School Counselors' Self-Efficacy Scale regarding Special Education (SCSSSE). Participants included 277 school counselors working at elementary schools in Turkey. Out of 277, 158 (57%) were female and 119 (43%) were male. Participants' ages ranged from 22 to 58 with a mean of 38 (SD: 5.7). Regarding validity of the SCSSSE, content validity and construct validity were explored through item analysis and exploratory factor analysis. Test-retest and internal consistency were also checked for reliability. The result of studying validity and reliability shows that scale has one construct dimension. Test-retest reliability of scale is r=0.96 and Cronbach Alpha value is 0.98. Results indicate that the SCSSSE is one factor 40-item scale with high reliability. As a conclusion, the SCSSSE has enough psychometric features and is a valid and reliable scale could be used to examine school counselors' sense of self-efficacy regarding special education.
