Abstract

Because of disadvantages of classical disinfection systems, alternative methods to prevent the harmful effects of bacteria are investigated by increasingly demand. Most common system among them is usage of antibacterial ceramic powder consisting metal ions. In this study, performance of the newly designed water disinfection columns filled with antibacterial ceramic spheres was investigated. Effects of flow speed, columns temperature, and bacteria concentration and surface area of antibacterial ceramic spheres were studied through feedback systems. E-coli bacteria were used for antibacterial tests. The optimization studies was performed on ceramic filled disinfection columns by altering the effecting parameters e.g. flow rate, temperature etc. to achieve % 0.0 alive ratio of E-coli bacteria in the test water.
