Abstract

Although it is not possible to generalize the definition of values, it can be said that they have certain characteristics in terms of their effects on the individual and society. Values for the existence and integrity of the society are seen as rules adopted by the society, governing the approach of the individual to events, regulating interpersonal relations, and form the basis of the society. The aim of this study is to examine the stories in Sevda Mujgan Yuksel's Primary School 2nd Grade Values Education Set with Stories in terms of root values and to determine what these values are and how often they are sampled. The data source of the research consists of 10 story books in the set. This study was carried out using qualitative research method and document analysis technique was used to collect data. The story books were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The distribution rates and frequencies of the 10 root values included in the 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum according to the stories are shown in tables and explained by coding and interpreting under the relevant root values. As a result of the examinations, root values were included 450 times in all of the story books and the most love value was found. While patriotism is not included, it has been determined that the least common root value is respect. It is recommended that the story books reflect the determined root values and be rich in content, and that these values should be used as a source while transferring these values to the students, and that the stories should be read and internalized by the students both at school and outside of school. Purpose, importance, method, data source, findings and this research is expected to contribute to the field.
