The Turks dominated the Rumelia province for five centuries and kept this region as their homeland during the Ottoman Empire Period. The Turks established cities in Rumelia and established a civilization. They built civilization not only physically but also culturally. While the Turks lived in the region, they encountered various situations in the natural flow of life. The Turks faced with loves, separations, wars, migrations and natural disasters and they made the national memory subject of their songs. Folk songs, which are a type of oral literature, have reflected the national identity and belief formed over hundreds of years. Therefore, Turkish language should be at the top of the list among the languages that should be given priority in music research to be conducted in Rumelia. The vocabulary in Rumelian Turkish songs reveals the perception, thinking, approach and understanding of the Turkish nation. The language studies on these folk songs, which have been compiled as a result of great efforts, will contribute to a better understanding of the civilization adventure of the Turks in the region and to the emergence of cultural elements. A data set consisting of 299 kırık tunes, 10 dancing tunes and 4 long tunes compiled as Rumeli folk songs in the Turkish Folk Music repertory work prepared by the Music Department of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation was created for recent study. Proper names, which are one of the most important elements in establishing and maintaining communication, were examined in this data set.
