Özet

The BIST Liquid Bank Index is a key indicator for financial markets as it represents banks with high trading volumes and those actively traded in the market within the banking sector. The banking sector's decisive influence on economic growth, financial stability, and market trends increases the importance of this index. Highly liquid bank shares attract significant interest from both domestic and foreign investors and are used as an important indicator in assessing risk perception in the markets. In this context, the BIST Liquid Bank Index serves as an important indicator for both evaluating the performance of the banking sector and examining general market trends. The main objective of this study is to compare the financial performance of the 6 banks included in the BIST Liquid Bank Index. While criteria are weighted by using SITDE (Skewness impact through distributional evaluation) method that aims to increase the reliability and validity of the decision-making process by systematically adjusting the criteria weights according to their skewness, alternatives are ranked via MUNRA (Multiple normalization rating analysis) method which integrate the linear, vector, and non-linear normalization to improve robustness, reduce rank reversal, and enhance decision accuracy. According to the results while nonperforming loan receivables/total loan receivables was obtained as the most important criterion, non-performing loan receivables/total receivables was found as the least important one. With respect to the banks Garanti was ranked as the first alternative. On the contrary, Yapı Kredi was acquired as the least one. Additionally, sensitivity, comparison, and rank reversal analyses are performed in order to confirm the validity, reliability, and robustness of the proposed approach.
