We’re pleased to share with you our latest guide book! The GO-GN Guide to Doctoral Supervision is written to provide an overview of the doctoral supervision process and has a wealth of material relevant to both students and supervisors. This Guide was collaboratively written with GO-GN members and draws on a wide range of experiences: both good and bad! The Guide provides a brief history of doctoral supervision and sets out strategies for managing expectations and establishing effective working relationships. We provide a range of different ways to conceptualise and reflect on the process of supervision, as well as practical advice on making it work (and what to do if things aren’t working). In the latter sections, you can hear directly from our members as they reflect on their own experiences of supervising and being supervised. There are also many links to other resources and further reading. We hope that members (and others) will find this Guide useful!
