This study aims to analyse Stjepan Šulek's Vox Gabrieli Sonata in terms of its structural, thematic, harmonic and performance aspects, and its position in the trombone repertoire in detail. The Vox Gabrieli Sonata is an important work for trombone performers due to its technically rich content and musical expression. It has been analysed to a limited extent in the academic literature. In this context, the study offers suggestions for trombone performance by addressing the historical background of the work, the composer's musical understanding and the formal analysis of the sonata. In the study, the relationship of the work with the traditional sonata form, its thematic development, harmonic structure, and rhythmic features are analysed, and the technical difficulties encountered in terms of performance and suggestions for solutions are evaluated. In addition, by comparing the performances of the pieces by different artists, the effects of interpretation differences on musical expression are analysed, the technical and artistic gains offered by the work in terms of trombone education are discussed, and study suggestions for trombone students and performers are developed. This study aims to contribute to the musical and performance analysis of the Vox Gabrieli Sonata and to provide an important resource for trombone players and musicologists. It is expected that the study will contribute to a more informed interpretation of the work and offer an academic perspective to the trombone literature.
