Abstract

Local press is one of the most important components which contributes the establishment of democracy culture in local level. Local press provides this function by communication bridge which was built between the local administrations and the local people besides its traditional functions such as giving information, educating, entertaining. In this study; first, the relation between the local press, local administrations and local democracy was underlined. Later on, the problems of local press today and how these problems prevent the contributions of local press to local democracy were pointed out. Finally, it was stressed that impartial, multi voiced, free and problem free local press is the guarantee to strength and to keep the democratic rdgime in the country alive.
