Determining Today's Fashion Lifestyle Dimensions: A Scale Development Study

Özet

This study aims to determine the dimensions of fashion lifestyle. For this aim the scale development process was followed and the existing scales were adapted. Then the dimensions explaining the fashion lifestyle of Turkish consumers were acquired by using the fashion lifestyle scale (FLSS). In this process, a mixed study was designed by using both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. In-depth interviews were conducted with 11 participants to collect qualitative data, and thematic analysis was used in the analysis process. In quantitative research, the data collected by using questionnaires were analyzed with statistical analysis techniques. The material of the quantitative research is the data obtained from 980 questionnaires. Fashion interest, fashion leadership, information seeking, importance of well dressing, prestige, anti -fashion, economy, ethics and social values are fashion lifestyle dimensions acquired by testing the construct validity. Some of these dimensions are the same with dimensions in previous studies. The dimensions originally acquired in this study are the dimensions of ethics and social values.
