Abstract

This study aims to reveal the bibliometric profile of papers presented at the International Research Forum on Guided Tours (IRFGT) Congresses held between 2009 and 2021. Bibliometric analysis is the statistical and mathematical analysis of scientific research, such as books, journals, articles, papers, etc., which examines the conceptual, social, and intellectual development of disciplines based on specific parameters. The information on the published papers included in the scope of the research, namely the International Research Forum on Guided Tours (IRFGT), was obtained from e-books available in electronic and printed formats and transferred to Excel, where all calculations and tables were also performed. The search operations were carried out by including the title, abstract, and keywords of the published papers. The papers presented at the conferences were evaluated based on bibliometric parameters such as the number of papers per year, the number of authors, the countries to which the authors' institutions belong, and the cooperation between institutions. The scientific studies produced within the scope of the conferences are of great importance in terms of strengthening the theoretical foundations of the tourism discipline and monitoring emerging research trends. In this regard, this study provides a general overview of academic production in the field of tourist guiding by focusing on conference papers. It makes a valuable contribution by highlighting current trends. A comparative analysis of the papers presented at IRFGT and those presented at the National Tourist Guiding Congress in Turkey could be recommended for future studies.

Bu çalışmanın amacı 2009-2021 yılları arasında gerçekleşen International Research Forum on Guided Tours -Uluslararası Rehberli Turlar Araştırma Forumu (IRFGT) Kongrelerinde sunulan bildirilerin bibliyometrik profilini ortaya koyabilmektir. Disiplinlerin kavramsal, sosyal ve entelektüel açıdan gelişimini sağlayan bibliyometrik analiz kitap, dergi, makale, bildiri vb. gibi bilimsel araştırmaların istatiksel ve matematiksel analizleri ile belirli parametreler doğrultusunda incelenmesidir. Araştırma kapsamına alınan International Research Forum on Guided Tours-Uluslararası Rehberli Turlar Araştırma Forumu (IRFGT) yayımlanmış bildirilere ilişkin bilgiler elektronik ortam ve basılı halde bulunan e-kitaplardan alınarak Excel programına aktarılmış, tüm hesaplamalar ile tablolar da bu program üzerinden yapılmıştır. Yayımlanan bildirilerin başlığı, özeti ve anahtar kelimelerinin dahil edilmesi ile tarama işlemleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Kongrelerde sunulan bildiriler yıllara göre bildiri sayısı, çok yazarlılık durumu, bildiri sunan yazarların kurumlarının bağlı oldukları ülkeler, kurumlar arasındaki iş birliği gibi bibliyometrik parametreler bazında değerlendirilmiştir. Kongreler kapsamında üretilen bilimsel çalışmalar, turizm disiplininin kuramsal temellerinin güçlendirilmesi ve gelişen araştırma eğilimlerinin izlenmesi açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, bu çalışma, kongre bildirilerine odaklanarak turist rehberliği alanındaki akademik üretimin genel bir panoramasını sunmakta ve mevcut yönelimleri görünür kılması bakımından değerli bir katkı sağlamaktadır. IRFGT’de sunulan bildiriler ile Türkiye’de gerçekleşen ve Ulusal Turist Rehberliği Kongre’sindeki bildiriler karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmesi gelecek çalışmalara önerilebilir.
