Abstract

When talking about visual communication in Turkey, we can say the concepts of graphic design and communication. However, these concepts are insufficient to define the contemporary concept of visual communication. The global environment that is shaped by technological developments is the main reason for this situation. For this reason, many graphic design departments prefer to update their name as visual communication design. Visual communication design is a concept related to using, designing and producing visual language. It includes a training to gain the ability to use vision and sight forms. It is a dynamic field of study where technology and design meet and interact with each other. The name of visual communication design requires the program content to be updated as well. But time is very limited in this regard. Because every technological development is regarded as "new" in the eyes of the former. For this reason, visual communication needs to know the "new" and anticipate the next step in order to meet the expectations of the time. "Information Design" is a term that we can accept as "new" in the context of usage in Turkey. Lectures on information design have been opened in many visual communication departments on the international scene. We are also faced with examples of how information design is handled as a department. However, this situation has been limited to a few universities in our country and the literature on the subject has not been sufficiently integrated into the training programs. This will create a big gap in the dimension of designer - viewer of visual communication in the future. In this context, research has been sought in the literature on the question "What is the situation information design in Turkey? "How does information transform to information design?", "How is information designed as information design satisfying the needs of society?".
