The conversion of rate based flow control algorithms used in high-speed data communication networks to window (credit) based algorithms is considered. A rate based robust flow controller, designed using the H-infinity approach, for a single-bottleneck network is considered. A feedback system model is developed in order to convert the rates, computed by this controller to window sizes and to transmit the window sizes to the sources. The uncertainty model of the system is developed by using the time delay uncertainties. Algorithms are developed so that the sending rates are indirectly controlled by the control of the window sizes. Time-domain behaviour of the system is observed by performing simulations in Simulink (MATLAB).
