This paper attempts to re-address the balance by
discussing settlement patterns from the Neolithic period to
the EBA, with particular reference to the Chalcolithic period
in Phrygia Region which is located at the junction of the
Eastern Marmara region in the north-west part of Central
Anatolia and the northern part of inner Western Anatolia,
Phrygia is bordered by the mountains of the Western Black
Sea region to the north. A synthesis of the surveys and
excavations conducted in Phrygia will be presented, and
similarities with other parts of Central Anatolia (mainly the
northern latitudes below the Pontic Mountains bordering the
Black Sea) will be discussed.
