Abstract

Lipids, the fatty-acid composition, and lipophilic compounds isolated from roots of freshly collected Ferula tenuisecta Korovin (Apiaceae) were studied for the first time. Free fatty acids, four phospholipid and glycolipid constituents, and many lipophilic compounds were identified by TLC, GC-MS, and GC-FID. A broad spectrum of acyl fragments (from C7 to C24), the main ones of which were unsaturated linoleic and oleic and saturated palmitic acid, was found in lipids from the plant roots. 14-Methylpentadecanoic acid (0.7%), a geometric isomer of palmitic acid, the main saturated acyl fragment of the lipids, was also identified.
