Abstract

Syenite has been used as a fluxing agent in floor tile ceramic compositions. The raw material of syenite has an important role to the regulation of furnace performances, due to its lowering of the melting point and its wide glassy phase range. With the use of syenite in ceramic floor tile, replacing albite, the sintering temperature has been lowered. In this study, syenite was added to the floor tile body in different proportions (0-40%) and these tiles were compared to standard floor tile with albite by examining their physical characteristics according to the degrees of firing. Characterizations of final products were done by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
