Özet

Communication campaigns are structured efforts designed to inform or influence behaviors in large audiences within a specific timeframe. They utilize an organized set of communication activities and feature a variety of mediated messages across multiple channels, generally aimed at producing noncommercial benefits for individuals and society. Health communication campaigns have significantly contributed to improving global public health. They are often regarded as essential components of comprehensive intervention strategies, including cancer prevention and tobacco use management. Campaigns for health communication have the power to dramatically change behaviors related to tobacco use, smoking, and physical activity. However, in today's globally interconnected world, where information is available around the clock and the marketing efforts of multinational corporations are ubiquitous, health campaigns need to be carefully planned to guarantee that the target audience is sufficiently exposed to the intended messages and can respond appropriately. The study sought to assess health communication campaigns following behavioral theories and models in this context. We selected theories and models developed to alter health behavior at the individual and social levels. The development and formation processes, areas of application, and fundamental variables were elucidated, and examples were provided. This study also examined integrating critical variables from health behavior theories and models into developing a health communication campaign. The analyzed campaigns were selected based on the following criteria: they were conducted by international organizations, were current, and were thematically diverse.
