Abstract

Attention to detail all along the way has been the key to the success of an Educational Centre for Hearing-Impaired Children (known as ICEM) on the Campus of Anadolu University, Eskisehir, Turkey. Starting in 1979 as a very small Nursery School Programme, it has gradually developed into a fully comprehensive service encompassing diagnosis, hearing aid fitting and maintenance, Parent Guidance, a variety of educational placements including integration and a special school and leading where appropriate, to University entrance. In addition there is now a well established four year teacher training programme for teachers of the deaf.
