Abstract

GC and GC-MS analysis were carried out on the steam distilled essential oil from leaves from Citrus lemon (Linn.) Burm. f. Besides, some commercial samples of oil from lemon leaves, obtained by local manufacturers, were deterpenated by fractional distillation and submitted to GC and GC-MS analysis. 37 components have been identified, representing 95% of the oil composition. Limonene (37%), geranial and 2,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-1-ol (18%), neral (12%) were found as the major components.
