Özet

Violin and piano are the most recognised instruments in classical music education. Both are advantageous in terms of musical expression and present significant technical challenges. Choosing an instrument by considering students' personal interests, abilities, physical characteristics and goals will help them to be more successful in their educational process and career. While the musical possibilities of the violin such as extending the sounds, increasing the loudness on the extended sound and vibrato and its emotional tone enable students to create deep expressions, the rich tonal range and polyphony advantage of the piano facilitate the presentation of rich and free expressions in a wider and dense sound space. The training process of both instruments requires self-discipline, focus and patience. In this article, the training processes for both violin and piano, along with the physical, emotional, and psychological requirements of students and professional opportunities will be compared. The article aims to serve as a guide for parents who want their children to study an instrument in conservatories, to make a choice between violin and piano, which are the most preferred instruments. The article will examine the structure of instrumental education in conservatories and music schools, musical abilities and physical characteristics required by the student, possible injuries and occupational diseases and psychological characteristics.
