Philosophy influences and steers every step of our lives. All the decisions we make reflect the philosophical views we possess. However, philosophical perspectives and worldviews, which are highly influential in daily life, are not sufficiently reflected in education. Especially foreign language preparatory schools become the followers of other schools, publishers and field experts and try to implement their recommendations and views without filtering through critical analysis. However, a curriculum should be designe*d through a critical approach and fed with philosophical thought. In this study, the meaning of philosophy is discussed and particularly how philosophy can be put into practice in developing an English curriculum at a preparatory school is explained. The determination of four fundamental components of curriculum design – objectives, content, learning and teaching processes, and assessment- through philosophy and critical thinking is explicated by presenting examples.
