Biography

Assistant Professor Dr. Özge Güncan began her piano studies in 1993 at the Piano Department of the State Conservatory of Anadolu University, where she studied with Robert Farkas throughout her formative years. She later completed her Master’s degree in Piano under the guidance of Zöhrap Adıgüzelzade in 2010 and earned her Proficiency in Art degree in 2023.

Her artistic career has included performances at numerous national and international festivals and concert organizations. In 2000, she performed at the 4th Young Talents Chamber Music Festival organized by Dokuz Eylül University, and in 2001 she was invited to France after receiving recognition at the Belfort Festival. Between 2008 and 2017, she performed extensively as a member of the “Anadolu Duo” together with Lilian Maria Tonella Tüzün.

Dr. Güncan was invited as the only Turkish pianist to participate in the VII and VIII International “We Gather Together” Music Festivals held in Moscow in 2014 and 2015, where she appeared both as a soloist and as part of a piano duo. She has also performed within the scope of the Marsyas International Culture, Art and Music Festival and the Musique Moderne project, collaborating with chamber ensembles consisting of string and wind instruments.

Alongside her performance career, Dr. Güncan has remained actively engaged in artistic and academic production. In 2011, within the framework of the Science and Society Support Programs of TÜBİTAK, she composed and performed the children’s song “Orman Biziz, Biz Ormanız” (“We Are the Forest, the Forest Is Us”). Her contributions to music and academia have been recognized through several awards, including the Art Incentive Award presented by Anadolu University in 2016, the “Those Adding Value to the City” Award presented by Eskişehir Sivil Yerel Oluşum Derneği in 2022, and the Article Performance Award granted by Anadolu University in both 2023 and 2024.

Özge Güncan completed her Proficiency in Art (equivalent to a doctoral degree in the arts) in July 2023. She served as a Lecturer in the Piano Department of the State Conservatory at Anadolu University from 2002 onward. Throughout her academic career, she has mentored highly successful students at the primary, secondary, and undergraduate levels, many of whom have received awards in national and international competitions.

Since 2024, Dr. Güncan has been serving as an Assistant Professor at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University. In June 2026, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
